Build It Yourself SIG Meeting
Installing and Configuring Ubuntu Linux
Maurice Green and Robert White

Ubuntu is an operating system built by a worldwide team of expert developers. It contains all the applications you need: a web browser, office suite, media apps, instant messaging and much more. Ubuntu is an open-source alternative to Windows and Office.
Maury and Bob will demonstrate the use of the "Live CD" for testing Ubuntu without making any changes to your current operating system and will then discuss several of the distributions available and how they can be installed in a dual boot system. They will demonstrate the comparison between MS Windows with MS Office and Ubuntu with Open Office as well as number of other open source productivity applications available with the Ubuntu distribution.
The first part of the meeting will be an open discussion for members to share their computer problems and experiences.
