Tue, 02/07/2012 - 11:20am

In its plan to connect every single person in the world, Facebook drew attention last September when the network announced it would upgrade to a new and improved timeline structure, and subsequently release a series of “frictionless apps,” to enhance overall sharing experience for its club of 800 million. From what you eat, where you travel, what you listen to, and where you shop, Facebook has invented an efficient way to broadcast everything to your personal globe, so that at any given moment, you can be tracked. Now that the company maintains no privacy, apparently the rest of us must follow suit.

Make Way for Facebook Mobile Ads

Tue, 02/07/2012 - 8:20am

Super Bowl Game Day Results: M&Ms Proved Giant Success

Tue, 02/07/2012 - 8:17am

Super Bowl 2012 was met with a giant ‘eh,’ (unless of course, you were a Giant). The game, while a close match-up, was decidedly lackluster; the commercials were mildly entertaining; and integrated marketing was often without effective execution. A report released yesterday by Altimer Group charted advertising trends from kickoff to finish, noting the traditional website emerged as the most prominent plug, yet nearly a third of ads linked to no site whatsoever and only a sixth promoted social media. Information Overload or Overconsumption?

Tue, 02/07/2012 - 7:30am

The term “information overload” is a misnomer. At least, that’s the angle Clay Johnson, co-founder of Blue State Digital, promotes in his new book, The Information Diet. Instead of blaming quantity, Johnson draws parallels between our consumption of data and our eating habits: “We don’t say that an obese person is suffering from food overload – it’s not the food’s fault!” At a time when determining strategies for filtering gold from the stream is increasingly important, Johnson’s argument could be one worth listening to.
